Pelvic pain, bladder leaks, heavy periods…those “down there” issues that so many of us deal with, but hardly anyone wants to discuss?
You are not alone. I know first-hand how isolating these pelvic health struggles can feel. The discomfort, the embarrassment, the constant worrying about what-ifs. It’s time we start being honest!
As your friendly Exeter Osteopath who’s constantly learning about all the ways I can help you feel better, I’ve undertaken specialist training in pelvic health. Now I’m here to help you get clued in on simple tips for finding relief. But first, let’s cover some red flag symptoms that mean it’s time to call your Dr:
Severe, can’t-ignore-it pelvic pain
Pelvic pain plus fever, nausea, vomiting
Bleeding when you’re not on your period
Burning or blood when you pee
That awful yo-yo of constipation and diarrhea
Bloating that makes you look 5 months pregnant
Pain during sex (which is the last thing you need)
Feeling like something’s going to fall out of you
If you’re dealing with any of those red flags, talk to your doctor and tell them what’s happening. The sooner you get checked out, the sooner you can get on the road to recovery.
Here’s something important to know about how I approach pelvic health: As an osteopath, I don’t just think about what’s happening “down there.” I take a full-body, interconnected view because your pelvic region doesn’t exist in a vacuum!
From your posture and movement patterns your stress and life pressures, to your breathing and alignment, there are so many things that impact how your pelvic parts are functioning. My approach means we work together to bring balance back to your body’s structures and systems holistically.
It’s like a delicate dance – when one area isn’t doing its job properly, it can throw everything else out of whack too. By combining hands-on techniques with personalised exercises and lifestyle adjustments, I help relieve sources of tension and restriction. My goal? Getting you feeling like a balanced, grounded, free-flowing version of yourself again!
Now, for my fab 5 tips to help you start feeling better today:
- Breathe! Deep belly breathing paired with gentle pelvic rocking gets that blood flow going.
- Self-massage is a great thing. A little external abdominal massage can work wonders for bloating discomfort!
- Ditch the pelvic irritants. Caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods? They may be adding insult to injury.
- Eat more fibre! Getting those 25-30 grams of fibre helps keep things regular!
- Hydrate! Proper hydration is key for keeping your pelvic region happy.
These tips are just the start. If you’ve got lingering pelvic issues, live in or around Exeter and it feels like nothing’s working, I’d love to help! Get in touch if you’ve got any questions or if you’re keen to just get started book an appointment online.
